A Dangerous Method - DM Review

Yaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwnnnnnnn...what an utterly boring film. This did nothing for me. The subject matter held no interest for me, the plot ambled along with no drama and the acting was solid but nothing exciting. A cold fish of a film which contained nothing I could connect with.

Score: 3/10

This was my first Cronenberg film...I hope he has done better. Which of his previous works should I watch to redeem him?

  1. I suppose A History of Violence or Eastern Promises. Two great films that he made in the last few years. Also, some highlights from the 80s for me would be The Fly, Dead Ringers, Videodrome. Actually thinking about it, pretty much everything he made in the 80s really...

  2. What a shame. I was thinking about going this afternoon but decided on a extra cup of tea with my mum! Agree with Adam about HoV and EP. The Fly yep and for some really way out stuff try The Naked Lunch - typewriters and talking arseholes...

  3. Dangerous Method - it kept me just about interested. Getting past the ridiculous jaw jutting I wanted more psychobabble and lots more Viggo. The love triangle - whilst crucial - should not have been the driving force of the movie. It was the relationship between the two analysts that was most important and a bit wasted. But it is BY FAR the most staid and understated Cronenberg ever - not at all representative.
